Grassland Woodland Shrubland, Streams; swamps; and lagoons; billabongs; mangroves; inland waters and fringing forests.
Breeding
Breeds at any time depending on water level and food availability. 10 to 12 creamy brown eggs. Nest is grass, lined with down in hollow limb or grass. Incubation 24-26 days by the female.
